Civera provides technology to build a better democracy by making civic information more available to everyday people, and to improve government operations, transparency, and accountability.

Our Vision

Access to government data is a human right. We believe government should provide a civic intelligence dashboard to allow all citizens a window into government data on a 24/7, real-time basis. We wish to replace the outmoded paradigm of transactional public records requests with always-on, live-updating databases of public information everywhere.

Justice Louis Brandeis wrote, “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” Generous public access to government information provides an important oversight role that incentivizes accountability, and an unyielding demand for excellence throughout our public institutions.

The Vermont Elections Division has very high praise for the election results database developed for Vermont by Civera. It has furthered the mission of our office by providing the public with quick, easy, and comprehensive access to the results of Vermont elections, past and present.

Researchers, media, and most importantly interested Vermonters have begun to rely on the archive as an invaluable resource for detailed information about Vermont election results.

In the past, Elections Division staff had to search through dozens of files and hundreds of documents each time a request for past election data was received. Now, most of the requests received by staff can be satisfied by simply directing the requestor to the archive. With source documents available directly from the site, users are able to access the primary source information to validate the results on the site.

Let me just start out by saying Idaho loves Civera!

Why? Because in Idaho, the transparency of campaign financials is one of the key components of election integrity and our customers often complained about how hard it was to find information in our old system. After speaking with Civera, Adam’s team designed and built Sunshine™, a first of a kind product that provides members of the press, research professionals and Idaho voters with the ability to easily discover the financials of candidates, including campaign spending, loans and donations – and reporting is a breeze!

While Civera created Sunshine™, Adam’s team also designed a database of Idaho‘s historical election results while crafting an elegant front-end we named Canvass™. Since implementing Canvass™ in January, our office has received praise from professionals, students, and social scientists about how easy it is to navigate.

I’ve worked with software development companies throughout my 30-year career, and I have never come across anyone better than Civera at listening to my requirements and turning them into such forward thinking, well-designed tools.
